Dubai Polo Team Sweeps Park Place As Castagnola Scores 13 Goals.

Opening play in Wednesday’s Cartier Queen’s Cup doubleheader saw four goals off the mallet of Camilo (Jeta) Castagnola, including two penalty conversions, to earn Dubai Polo Team an early 5-3 lead against Park Place. Managing just six shots in the opening two chukkas, Park Place, led by Facundo Pieres, took advantage at the penalty line in the third, but Dubai’s balanced attacking effort saw contributions from Beltran Laulhe, Castagnola, and Rufino Bensadon gives them an impressive 9-5 advantage at half-time.

Maintaining pressure on Park Place, a four-goal, the unanswered run was finally halted by Pieres in the fifth but left Park Place trailing by an insurmountable nine goals entering the final chukka. Pieres kick-started a four-goal effort, but Dubai’s impressive early lead and a 10-goal performance from Castagnola were too much to overcome. Dubai Polo Team sailed to an impressive 17-10 victory.

MONTEROSSO VS. MARQUES DE RISCAL

Ending the day’s action at The Castle Ground, Monterosso’s Lucas Criado made his presence felt early at the penalty line, converting four of five early attempts. Responding from the field was Marques de Riscal’s Chris Mackenzie, coupled with efforts from Santiago Cernadas and Guillermo Caset is to bring Marques de Riscal back within one at the half-time break. Keeping their perfect shooting streak alive in open play, Criado struck once more for Monterosso, but Mackenzie and Caset quickly answered to tie the match 7-all in a lively, back-and-forth contest.

Leading scorer Criado pushed Monterosso ahead once more in the fifth, with back-to-back goals from David Stirling confirming an 11-8 win for Monterosso.
