Desert Palm Polo's lineup appears to be the most stable, with the Castagnola brothers and Rashid AlBwardy, being the constants, and Martin Velant, who has been with them since last season. The thing is, as we observed last season, the Desert Palm Polo Club is a breeding ground for 'Polo Assassins'. Very young, hot-blooded 'ride or die' polo players, that thrive on speed and agility, are being raised there. Desert Palm defeated Mahra 11 goals to 6, without contention; easy breezy Castagnola goals.
Camilo Castagnola scored 7 out of the 11 winning goals. He is a strong contender for the 'Ride or Die' MVP. Can 17-year old Camilo keep up with being the goal-scoring machine for Desert Palm all the way to Silver Cup victory? We can only watch and see. Camilo Castagnola was 16 when we met him at Desert Palm last season, and he is turning out to be everything that we predicted.
"We're happy we started off well," said Rashid AlBwardy, the young Patron of the Desert Palm Polo Team; a man of very few words.
The chemistry between the Team has been established, as the Desert Palm Team is the most consistent when it comes to retaining players. That chemistry led them to victory at Argentina's Sotogrande Polo Club last season, winning the Argentine Silver Cup, against the excellent Indiana Team, and we are looking to see where it leads them in Dubai this season.
