The Dubai Camel Racing Club (DCRC) under the efficient management of the CEO, Ali Saeed Bin Saroud, has kick-started the prestigious Camel Racing Season with a successful Auction session for Fatameen [camels aged 9 months and below].
The 3-day Al Marmoum Sixth Camel Auction for Fatameen: Batch A, was a huge success with more than 200 camels sold, witnessing aggressive bidding from prominent camel owners in a total sale of over AED 3 million...yeah you heard that right, 3 million! How much does a Bugatti cost again anyone?
The Camel Auction event is a must-see for everyone. The kind of stuff you include in your bucket list, and when you finally attend, best pay attention to the names of the camels and their pedigrees. You'll be hearing stuff like: "Did I hear Dh330,000? Sold! The son of Al Shababi Al Asifa and mother Ekhtiyar, sold to Kasib Salim Al Musafri for 330,000!"
The 'son' in this case, is the camel.
The auction’s objective is to highlight the historical, social, cultural and economic importance of camels in the Arab world and to encourage more owners to get involved in the heritage sport.
Another aim is to help with cultural preservation and sustainability of the camel, and also to improve the original features of purebred camels. Sounds mysterious? See you at the next Auction.
